The month, stated plainly
Every company listed in Taipei files consolidated revenue with the exchange by the tenth of the following month, and the exchange republishes the lot. That makes Taiwan the one market where the whole semiconductor chain reports on a single monthly clock, and this edition reads the sheet in full rather than one name at a time: for August 2026 there are 1,972 filings, and they sum to NT$6,186B (US$194B), up 50.0% on August 2025 and 4.8% on July.
The semiconductor group is the 206 companies the exchanges themselves classify under 半導體業, and it filed NT$1,015B (US$31.9B), up 64.3% on the year and 8.5% on the month, of which TSMC is NT$514.8B, 50.7% of the group on its own. Take it out and the other 205 companies grew faster: 77.4%, on NT$500B.
The memory basket did that. Ten names — five makers, one controller house, four module houses — filed NT$147.4B (US$4.6B), up 360.5% year on year. That is 14.5% of the group’s revenue and 29.1% of its year-on-year dollar growth; strip TSMC and it is 52.9% of the growth. So the group’s 64.3% is two engines, the fab and the memory names, and the 195 companies that are neither grew 41.1%. That is not slow. It is a different number.

Two clocks
Year on year, 176 of the 206 filed growth and 30 filed a decline, 59 grew more than 50% and 29 more than doubled, while month on month it is 114 up and 92 down. Restrict the sheet to the 60 companies above NT$1B of monthly revenue and every one of the 60 grew on the year, while 42 grew and 18 shrank on the month. The year-on-year clock says supercycle. The month-on-month clock says plateau, with risers in it.
Both are true. The risers are where the monthly clock actually runs, TSMC +10.1%, ASE +11.5%, MediaTek +32.4%, and the ODMs building AI servers, Wistron +49.3% and Wiwynn +22.6%, while the memory makers, which supplied the year-on-year, moved 3.3% on the month. One industry, two clocks.
What the monthly sheet cannot say is whether the memory plateau is volume or price. The companies’ own filed reasons say price. None of them filed a bit count, and the exchange does not ask for one.
The memory basket: the staircase, step two
The Winbond deep dive established the shape: the revenue line steps four times a year because the company prices on quarterly contracts, so the riser lands in the first month of a quarter and the next two months are the tread, and July was the riser, +30.0% for Winbond. August is the tread: Winbond +2.0%, Nanya +1.9%, ADATA +3.0%, Phison +4.1%, Macronix +5.4%. Nothing in the sheet contradicts the staircase; August is what a tread looks like.
Two months into the third quarter, the quarter is already mostly written. Nanya has filed NT$88.56B for July and August against a Q2 of NT$82.549B — 107.3% of last quarter with a month to go, which is the arithmetic the Nanya dive ran off July alone and August did not disturb. ADATA is at 97.8% of its Q2, Winbond at 90.4%, Team Group at 79.8%.
The filed reasons are the finding. ADATA filed memory selling prices rose. Transcend filed market prices rose. So did Apacer, and so did Silicon Power, a module house outside the basket, in the same three words. Phison filed shipments and average price, both up, and Team Group filed shipments and unit price, so of the four module houses in the basket three filed price alone, and the one that filed volume is the one that grew 38.0% on the month, having let bits go in Q2 to hold price, which the Team Group dive called a choice at the time. Ex-Team Group the module houses grew 0.7% month on month. Transcend fell 6.9%.
If the price filings are right, flat revenue in a month when the input repriced upward is fewer bits. That is the read the sheet supports and it is the read it cannot prove, because nobody filed the denominator.
The makers filed demand, not price, and their numbers are the ones that need no explanation. Nanya is up 560.9% on a year in which, per its own Q2 deck, bit shipments were flat. ESMT, the specialty-DRAM house, is up 605.2%, the fastest-growing company above NT$1B in the whole group. Etron, a specialty-DRAM designer on the TPEx and not in the basket, is up 525.3%. Macronix, the mature-node NOR fab, is up 218.5% and filed growth in market demand.

Foundry and packaging: the fab’s own clock
TSMC filed NT$514.8B (US$16.2B), up 10.1% on July and 53.3% on the year, with the reason it always files, demand for advanced-node products increased, and July and August together are NT$982.4B against a year to date of NT$3,387B, up 39.3%. The largest company on the sheet is also one of the few running on a monthly clock rather than a quarterly one, and it supplied 45.1% of the group’s year-on-year dollar growth by itself.
The tell in foundry is one filed reason. Powerchip, the mature-node foundry, grew 76.2% and filed customer demand rose, volumes increased, and selling prices were raised. It is the only foundry on the sheet that filed a price increase, and the two that filed nothing, UMC and Vanguard, grew 30.7% and 40.5% on the same mature nodes without saying why. A mature-node foundry raising price is the same fact the Macronix dive reported last quarter from the fab’s side. Now it is reported from the customer’s.
Packaging and test grew 42.5% to NT$100.3B, and ASE alone is NT$82.2B of it, up 11.5% on the month. Two test names outside the basket filed the most specific reasons on the whole sheet: WinWay, up 233.4%, filed that its coaxial test sockets and MEMS probe cards for AI and HPC customers shipped at a level that moved revenue more than 50%, and HCP, the test-handler maker, grew 91.6%. The test houses are the one place where a company wrote a paragraph.

Design houses lag the fab
The IC design basket grew 48.7% on the year to NT$108.4B and only 9.7% year to date. MediaTek is the reason: NT$64.2B in August, up 32.4% on July and 44.1% on the year, against a year to date of NT$414.0B versus NT$391.4B, 5.8%. The year was made in eight weeks. MediaTek’s filed note says only that overseas subsidiaries are translated at the month’s average rate and says nothing about demand, which for a company whose August was a third larger than its July is a silence worth recording.
The ASIC houses are on the fab’s clock. Alchip grew 273.6% and filed more products entered volume production; Global Unichip grew 111.0% and filed wafer product revenue increased. The PC and display houses are on the old one: Realtek 28.1%, Novatek 26.3%, Parade 0.2%. Faraday is up 29.9% on the month a year ago and down 41.1% year to date, which the filing does not explain and this edition cannot.

Where the cycle has not arrived
Raw silicon has not repriced. GlobalWafers grew 7.6% on the year, fell 4.3% on the month, and is down 3.1% year to date; Sino-American Silicon grew 11.7%. Between the wafer and the finished DRAM the price moved several hundred percent, and the wafer maker saw single digits of it, while substrates went the other way, Unimicron up 56.3% on a filed capacity and customer demand increased and Kinsus and Nan Ya PCB each up 40.6%.
Thirty of the 206 companies fell year on year. Every one of them files less than NT$1B a month. The decline in Taiwan semiconductors is entirely a small-company decline, and the ten slowest growers above NT$1B are all still growing: Parade 0.2%, Orient Semiconductor 4.8%, ILI 7.2%, GlobalWafers 7.6%.

The demand proxies: the EMS sheet split in two
For the memory names this is the customer sheet. The seven EMS and ODM companies that assemble the servers and notebooks filed NT$2,189B (US$68.7B), 35.4% of everything listed in Taipei, up 80.3% on the year and 9.7% on the month. Read as one number it says AI demand. Read as two it says something more useful.
The three ODMs whose revenue is now mostly AI servers — Quanta, Wistron, Wiwynn — filed NT$1,028B, up 144.0% on the year and 29.8% on the month. Wistron went from NT$308.2B in July to NT$460.1B in August, +49.3%, and filed customer demand increased, while Quanta, up 15.8% on the month, filed product mix changed and nothing else. The three whose revenue is still mostly PCs, Compal, Inventec and Pegatron, filed NT$238.9B, up 28.5% on the year and down 7.1% on the month; Compal fell 16.9% and filed none.
Hon Hai is the sheet’s largest company at NT$921.8B (US$28.9B), up 52.0% on the year and down 2.6% on the month, and its filed reason is server product shipments continued to grow. A company can grow 52%, shrink on the month, and file growth, and all three are true. The AI-server clock is the one the memory makers are selling into. The PC clock is the one the module houses are.

What settles it
The September filings are due and close the quarter for every name on this sheet, and they settle whether Transcend’s 6.9% decline was a month or a direction, and whether the memory makers’ tread, NT$89.1B in August, holds.
The October filings are due and are the riser, if the staircase is real. Wrong if the five memory makers file October revenue less than 10% above September. A staircase with no riser is a plateau, and a plateau at these prices is a different edition.
This edition restates public filings and identifies where they agree and where they cannot answer. It does not identify transactions.
